Visitation
Visitations and regional activation
The Academy welcomes guests to visit the training centre and get some in water tips. To organize a visit or set up a week of training it is best to contact the Academy and its head coach Randy Bennett. Higher level swimmers can access the Academy through various programs and also be invited to national team camps.
At the camps the swimmers follow the normal training routine and get exposed to all the services at the Academy accessing physiologists, bio-mechanists and strength coaches who can help them measure their training and gather information on their progress. With these results they can re-adapt their training program when they return to their home base.
Swimming Canada also provides a mentorship program for coaches who travel out west to work with Randy Bennett. This service is offered to both senior level and junior coaches and includes different types of camps such as stroke camp for example and other opportunities that are provided.
In addition to hosting camps and clubs, the Academy also heads out into the community to visit schools and clubs and organize clinics with the national team swimmers being the main attraction. The Academy feels it has a role to play in developing the swimmers locally and also develop interest in the sport and a healthy lifestyle in general.
